In the market for a new ride, but don't want to break the bank?
Cars.co.za's Ciro De Siena shares his top five budget cars for 2019:
So, how do they fare when it comes to fuel economy?
"The car that's really shining here is the Suzuki, which is fairly typical for Suzuki since they have very efficient engines. As a test team, we're getting a real-world average of 5.4 litres to the 100, whereas in the Datsun Go we're getting a 6.4."- Ciro De Siena, Motoring journalist - Cars.co.za
"All four of these cars except the Kia have ABS and that is really problematic. Particularly in the wet, if you don't have ABS and you lock up the tires, you are in real trouble. You can't steer the car, you can't avoid a collision." - Ciro De Siena, Motoring journalist - Cars.co.za
De Siena says despite coming in at under R150 000 he was impressed with the Datsun Go.
"The Datsun Go is really well spec'd. It has electric windows all round. I also really like the infotainment system in this car."- Ciro De Siena, Motoring journalist - Cars.co.za
De Siena says there is one car out of the five that really stands out:
"The Kia is leagues ahead of all of them. Of all of them, if I had to choose a car to drive every day, it would definitely be the Kia."- Ciro De Siena, Motoring journalist - Cars.co.za
